Teana’s Maths learning Story
The Problem:
Tickets for Matatini
On Saturday, Kate and Sophia took some students to watch Matatini for the day.
There were 4 adults and 9 children. How much did Kate pay for the tickets?

How we solved the problem:
First I did a table and put adults and a dollar sign it looks like this
Next, I did 1 person and $43. Then 2 people and $86
Then soon I got to 4 people and $172
And that was the last thing to do then next I did another table but it had children and money
It looks like this
Then so I knew that Kate had to pay $198 for children and
$172 for adults, so then I did 198+172=? Next, I did place value
And I split the 198 into 100, 90, and 8. Then I split the 172 into 100, 70, 2, then I did 100+100= 200,
90+70=160, 8+2=10 then I did 10+160+200=370
So that means the Kate had to pay $370 for tickets.
