My Poetry Writing Learning Story

My Poetry Writing Learning Story

In Term 3, I was learnr to write different types of poems
The poems we learned about have special features.

One of the poems I learnt about was a Quatrain Poem.

It’s special features are. A quatrain is a four-line poem
and there are four lines because the ‘Quat’ part in the
’Quatrain’ means Quarter

I tried to write my own one.
Here it is.

Slithering through the trees
And into the city
I see a store with lots of cake
Look over there! a slithering snake!

I want you to notice how funny this poem is because of how the
snake comes out and scares everyone because you know how
when you scare someone sometimes you laugh at them.

I got some feedback on my poem which was that
Whaea Vicki said that she likes the use of the
word ‘Slithering’ in my poem but she
thinks I should try to make City and Trees Rhyme.

I then tried to re-work my poem and now I’ve got this.
Slithering through the trees
And past the bees
I see a store with lots of cake

Look over there. A slithering snake!
